Child Life Program

With your child in the hospital, everything has been turned upside down and all that was “normal” has been interrupted. Both you and your child may be feeling anxious and scared. CHRISTUS Schumpert Sutton Children’s offers the service of our Child Life Specialists to help you and your child cope with this stressful time.

Child Life Specialists are trained in child development, and specifically in the responses of children and teenagers to illness, hospitalization, treatment and fear of the unknown.

Services Include:

• Therapeutic Activities
• Education about illness or injury
• Medical play
• Sibling support
• Preparations for surgery and/or procedures
• Special Events
