Your Hospital Bill
For questions about billing and payments, please contact the Business Office. Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm , Monday through Friday. (318) 681-4256 or toll free 1-888-336-8115.

Insurance
If you have insurance, you should determine which providers (hospital, physicians etc.) are covered in the plan. If your insurance is provided by an employer, the Human Resources office at your company should be able to answer questions regarding coverage. The hospital will file your charges with your insurance company as a courtesy. You should receive an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance company showing what they will pay. You will need to work with your insurance company and ensure that all charges are paid.

Payments
Deductibles, co-pays and coinsurance amounts are due at admission. Financial counselors are available to help you make arrangements to meet required deductible and coinsurance payments. Patients with no insurance coverage will be asked to make a deposit based on the nature of the admission and the estimated length of stay. A financial counselor will contact you to work out arrangements.

CHRISTUS Schumpert Health System is a Louisiana Medicaid enrollment center and the financial counselors can also assist with Louisiana Medicaid enrollment. For more information, call (318) 681‑4104.

Billing
A statement of charges for your room, meals and medical treatments can be sent to you after discharge if you request one. A copy will be sent to your insurance company. A monthly statement will be mailed for the balance you owe. Balances are due within 30 days. Major credit cards are accepted for payment. You will receive separate statements from your physicians and others who provide services such as anesthesiologist, radiologist, emergency department physicians and/or pathologists. Please note that participation in health care service plans is determined by individual doctors. Some may not be in all plans which include the hospital.

Financial Assistance
The health system will provide financial assistance for eligible acutely ill patients who are unable to pay for needed care under the guidelines of the hospital's Financial Assistance Policy. For more information, call extension 4256.
