CHRISTUS Schumpert Sutton Children’s Accepted for NACHRI Membership

CHRISTUS Schumpert Sutton Children’s Medical Center has been accepted for membership in the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI). The hospital’s acceptance into the prestigious group was announced this week.

As a community-based hospital-within-a-hospital, Sutton Children’s is designated as an Associate member of the nonprofit organization, which includes 208 members and supporters. NACHRI serves as a collective voice for health systems devoted to the well-being of American’s 70 million children and their families, no matter how sick or how poor.

CHRISTUS Schumpert and Sutton Children’s President and CEO Charles J. Paine, M.D., noted that participation in NACHRI provides the hospital with a network of like-minded healthcare providers dedicated to the best possible care for children. “We are pleased to have been accepted for membership among other distinguished children’s hospitals as we approach our first anniversary,” he said.

Sutton Children’s is an 80-bed dedicated children’s hospital within the walls of CHRISTUS Schumpert St. Mary Place. Services include a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, General Pediatrics Unit, a Pediatric Emergency Department and pediatric specialty care including pediatric surgery, pediatric orthopedic surgery, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric pulmonology, pediatric urology, pediatric hospitalist service, pediatric physical and occupational therapy and pediatric respiratory therapy.

Children’s hospitals represent approximately 3 percent of all hospitals nationwide. NACHRI’s primary roles are advocacy for children and children’s hospitals, public policy analysis, education for its members and the public and research.
